According to holiday booking experts Easy Villas, many people these days have a swimming pool in the backyard. It is almost an Aussie icon, since so much of this great country has a warm temperate in some places, a tropical climate like the island of Bali that makes swimming such a popular activity, let alone a great way to cool off. Concrete was the normal material for building a pool until fibreglass made an upsurge. But now, concrete is coming back into its own. Why?

There are many benefits to having a concrete swimming pool. Here are some of them: –

  • The design of a concrete swimming pool is almost limitless. It can be deeper and bigger than a fibreglass one which is great as long as you have a pool cleaner. Fibreglass pools are made in the factory to a set mould. There are many different shapes and sizes, but they are all limited to a certain size because they have to fit on a truck for delivery.
  • Concrete pools are made on the location. They can have anything in them that you want as far as seating, steps, ledges and varying depths are concerned. This is really handy if you have children of varying ages; littlies can play in the shallow part and older children can swim where it’s deeper.
  • You can have a spa attachment in a concrete pool.

  • Lighting can be installed within the pool allowing a distinctive ambiance and atmosphere to increase your enjoyment.
  • If you have an awkward small corner, you can still have a concrete pool built there. But it would be difficult or impossible to get the right size and shape in fibreglass.
  • Concrete pools can have a diving board because they can be much deeper than fibreglass.
  • You can have any kind of shape and depth you want in a concrete pool, making your design quite unique.
  • Concrete is a material that lasts a long time, so you know that you have something of concrete value (pun intended).
  • When you choose concrete, it is easy to also include a water feature or a fountain.
  • If repairs are needed, concrete is easier and so, cheaper to fix than other types of materials.
  • You can use salt or chemicals for the water in a concrete pool; neither will have any adverse effect on it.
  • You can have any colour or combination of colours in a concrete pool.

So if you are considering adding a pool to your property, you can be sure that a concrete one will give lasting value and fun. If you have lots of room and want to make a big splash, concrete is the way to go. You only have to think what commercial pools are made of to realise that concrete is a material that can take a lot of use without any fear of something going wrong.
